ACT Associates LLC is an award-winning independent practice providing professional services and a fresh approach to audio visual and video conferencing consultancy. With over sixty years of combined audio visual experience, the Principals of ACT Associates have designed, engineered and managed hundreds of systems and facilities including corporate boardrooms and presentation environments, museum exhibits, training rooms, auditoriums, labs and classrooms.
Our past experience with the demanding and changing technology needs of clients from both the design side as well as the installation side provides us with a unique insight. We develop a design that is fully based on the client’s business objects, capital budgets and facility logistics. We work with the installation contractor to help them understand those needs and provide the installation quality that the entire team, including the client can be proud of.
We listen to your objectives, and dutifully assess the technical, capital and logistical factors affecting your project. Our role is to assist the design team in bringing the technology and the environment together as a functional whole, while maintaining the architectural vision of the interior designer and architect.
While respecting the roles of others on the project, we make an effort to truly understand and appreciate both the technical and the non-technical goals and considerations that influence a project. At the same time, we know the importance of the quality of the technology being applied and are able to provide detailed recommendations that coordinate with the function-al and aesthetic goals of the project.

During Peter’s 24 years in the AV industry, he has managed hundreds of installations throughout the country. These projects included museum installations, corporate board rooms, conference centers, classrooms and demonstration rooms among others. His extensive experience in project management, system design and installation, includes utilizing the latest software tools to develop comprehensive project timelines and to provide timely project status reports, meeting reports and field notices to all key project team members. His experience includes dealing with a wide variety of different team members, including architects, general contractors, electrical contractors, AV integrators, control programmers and end users – all critical players in the success of any AV project.
Peter is CTS-D certified (Certified Technical Specialist- Design) and NICET certified (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies). He is currently in the process of attaining LEED AP certification. He most recently held the position of Director of Technical Operations for MCSi East and AV Associates. His responsibilities included overseeing some 60+ technical personnel while estimating labor on all projects, reviewing the financials on projects with project coordinators and maintaining a strong installation and service department.
Peter attended Springfield College and Hartford State Technical College. His wealth of experience provides focused leadership to our project management team.
Denette started her career in public accounting and business consulting. In 1995, she took her business management consulting skills to AV Associates where she helped to grow the company by 100% within a three year period. The subsequent merger with MCSi in 2000 afforded her the opportunity to take on a regional corporate controller position along with some national operations.
Her major accomplishments during her time at AV Associates included the development of an operating procedural plan and a customized software program used to quote and track jobs. She also managed the financial position of AV Associates until 2000.
In July 2003, Denette took on the role of District Manager for the East District of MCSi overseeing the operational and strategic direction of four branch offices. During this time, she worked with the management team to rebuild the East District. This entailed hiring and training a new sales staff, providing business strategies and direction, as well as, financial responsibilities.
Denette graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1987 with a degree in Business Administration and a double major in accounting and finance. In 2004, Denette earned her CTS certification and is currently pursuing her CTS-D designation.
With over 20 years of experience in the AV industry James has a reputation for excellence. James has an extensive background in the design and installation of professional recording studios and Pro AV systems integration. Since 2015 he served as the Vice President of Operations for a New England based integrator and the Director of Engineering for 12 years prior to that. In his executive management roles, James displays well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to meet, and often exceed, clients’ highest expectations. With exceptional attention to detail, James facilitates all aspects of the AV design process. He holds an AS degree in Electrical Engineering and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. James is accustomed to getting results, is always looking for a better solution, and is adaptable to change.
Josiah specializes in architectural design and drafting. He supplements the ACT design team with solid expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3-D rendering software programs.
Josiah was introduced to ACT Associates while a student at Windham Technical High School located in Willimantic, Connecticut. Following his graduation, he stayed on as a full-time employee and continues to broaden his skill set and work as a key contributor to ACT projects.
